REVO-Sile Small Grain, Grass & Legumes is specifically designed for forages with lower sugar content and higher protein levels, such as small grains, grasses, and legumes. These crops are more challenging to ensile and prone to mould and yeast spoilage, requiring a tailored five-strain bacterial blend to ensure efficient fermentation and long-term stability.
As soon as ensiling begins, rapid-growing lactic acid bacteria and Pediococcus species act as oxygen scavengers, swiftly removing oxygen from the silage and lowering pH to prevent spoilage. As fermentation progresses, specific lactic acid bacteria strains help maintain a stable environment, while some strains produce fructanase enzymes, which break down plant fibres and release additional sugars to further fuel fermentation. Bacillus licheniformis enhances silage quality by decomposing complex fibres, improving digestibility and nutrient availability for livestock.
